Preparing Your AC System for Spring

It seems like a regular Utah Spring season. We’re still in March and we still have snow. But fret not, members of the Beehive state. Warmer weather is on its way and because of that, you want to make sure your air conditioning system is ready for it.

There are a few tips and tricks you can do to make sure your AC unit is ready to go.

1 – It’s been a long snowy and blowy winter, which means, you may have a ton of build up in your outside AC unit. Make sure your air conditioner is clear, removing any debris like leaves and dirt from your fan or the surrounding unit.

2 – Does your wiring leading to the unit look ok? We don’t recommend you try fixing this yourself, but having a look over can help to determine if you need to call the professionals at Method Air to help you out.

3 – Check out your ducts, including the vents throughout your house. If they’re filled with dust and debris, you can clean out the vents, but you’ll want to have all your ducts in a row (see what I did there?). Especially with the changing of seasons, allergies and other contaminants enter your home, so you will want to make sure your have a good filtration system and/or air cleaners set up.

4 – Check each of your windows to make sure that they are properly sealed. Leaking air can overwork your system and increase your energy costs.

5 – Hire a professional. As much as it is nice to be able to DIY, the best way to make sure something is fixed and ready is to have a professional look at your system and determine what is and isn’t working. At Method Air, we pride ourselves on being the best in business and giving our customers an understanding of what they can do to ensure a comfortable home throughout all seasons.
